The multicoloured richness of precious stones - the intense red of ruby, the delicate violet of tourmaline, the deep yellow of violet topaz (鈥) - combined with the typical brilliance and transparency of the glass block.

From the effervescent mind of Studio Mendini and the production capacity of Seves glassblock comes the 鈥淢endini Collection鈥, a new collection of glass blocks inspired by nature and conceived to enliven contemporary domestic landscapes with new shades and visual sensations.

After making history in the early 90鈥檚 by introducing colour to the glass block in a range of 10 pastel shades, Seves glassblock renews its accomplishment by entrusting a full-blown project of polychromy to the 鈥渧isionaries of colour in design鈥.

鈥淲ith the Mendini Collection鈥 - explain the designers. 鈥渢he idea is to make a meticulously prepared, complete and joyful palette of coloured blocks available to architects and interior designers, (鈥) making the possibilities of its aesthetic and expressive language more sophisticated and ample".

Sixteen colour possibilities鈥攆rom the most audacious and strong shades to blacks and whites in varying degrees of transparency鈥攖hat give life to a new generation of interior construction elements in 鈥渓ively鈥 colours, thanks to special production technologies that maintain the absolute purity of the colour shades.

To present and showcase the new colours the Pegasus glass block with wings was selected in the 19x19x8cm format with a smooth glass design and metallized finishing, characteristics that make the shades even more sharp, full and impactful.

鈥淪ensuality, conceptuality, symbology, hedonism and emotion are parameters that the geometric language of the glass block had lacked until now (鈥)鈥. The pieces in the Mendini Collection instead, stand out as 鈥渂right new presences in the space, like sapphires, topazes, ambers and rubies. And it is because of this rich fascination with nature that each colour in the new collection bears the expressive name of a precious stone鈥.

The setting for the presentation is the new Seves glassblock showroom in Via Lodovico il Moro and is the result of the colourful expressiveness of the Mendini brothers. Five hundred square metres in tones of lilac are dedicated to this creative and commercial outpost in Milan, the company鈥檚 production is based in Florence but has manufacturing and commercial distribution sites around the world. To display the bright new palette of colors, large polychrome panels of blocks in chessboard patterns were created in endless variations鈥攎ixing pure monochromes and kaleidoscopic effects with pure geometry and figuration.
